Celestron CPC 1100 StarBright XLT GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope Review – Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Telescopes are the best way of connecting with the universe outside of becoming an astronaut and actually going there. They magnify the wonders of the skies so that you can see things that would be impossible normally, and enhance the detail of the things that you can see with the naked eye.

The Celestron CPC 1100 does an amazing job of bringing those wonders to your room. It is an extremely high quality telescope that is meant for the serious observer. The price is prohibitive to the casual hobbyist. The manufacturer, Celestron, is based in Southern California. They are world renowned for their high tech telescopes. Today, they supply many of the United States’ top retailers with their products. This particular Celestron is one of their high end products. It is not one of their most compact and portable models, but it entirely makes up for it in other ways.

Price and Features

The cost of the marvelous telescope is $2,999.00.  That is not an amount that a hobbyist would want to spend, but if you are serious about it, the telescope has lots of features to make the price worth it, such as:

  • The telescope has a completely computerized dual fork arm altazimuth mount.
  • It is ergonomically designed to be as portable and comfortable as possible for what it is.
  • It comes with advanced computer software, both as part of the telescope and as auxiliary resources.  The telescope has GPS alignment software and Celestron includes software such as an astrological database.
  • It has a 280 millimeter aperture with a 2800 millimeter focal length.
  • It has an 11 inch diffraction limited Schmidt-Cassegrain scope.

Who is it for?

Because of the cost, this telescope is not for everyone.  It also requires some knowledge and familiarity with computers to operate. It is an amazing telescope, but it isn’t for the beginner.  If you are a serious astronomer with the money or an organization that can afford it, it is a good choice, but it is not for an amateur.

Pros and Cons

There are some positive and negative aspects of the telescope that you should think about before making a decision.  The pros are that it is really high quality and provides many advanced features that the serious observer can appreciate. One amazing feature that it has is the built in GPS alignment tool.  This makes it easy to precisely find and observe anything that you want.   The biggest con to it is the cost.  While it is worth the money, it is still prohibitive to many people.  Also, it isn’t a good choice for a telescope that will get moved around a lot as you wouldn’t want to break it.

Why You Should Buy It

The best reason to buy this amazing telescope is just how much it magnifies objects in space.  You can see things amazingly clearly.  Objects that a normal telescope can’t see, this one can.

Verdict

Overall, the Celestron CPC 1100 StarBright XLT GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain 2800mm Telescope is a great product, but it isn’t for everyone.  It is amazingly effective at its job, but that comes at a cost.  If you can afford it, it’s worth getting.
